Nearly four and a half months following the previous coach's first press conference as the club's head coach, his replacement the German coach faced the media at Rangers' stadium for the first time.

The scale of the challenge ahead of him is well known, considering Martin's turbulent and unsuccessful four-month spell.

The ex- Sheffield Wednesday manager was joined by chairman Andrew Cavenagh, along with the much-criticized pair of football director Thelwell and CEO Stewart.

However, what exactly was revealed from the 36-year-old German's first public appearance as Rangers boss?

Rohl's Main Priority - Victory Comes First

One thing came through loud and clear from Rohl's first appearance before the Scottish media - he understands the necessity to win matches, and achieve this quickly.

The previous manager Martin managed just 17 games and four months as manager, so the inquiry emerged about how long the new man believes is reasonable to transform the underperforming squad.

Although deftly avoiding a specific response that could bring future pressure, Rohl's communication was quite clear.

"Hopefully very quickly," he stated. "That is essential.
"In football you have limited opportunity. You can discuss future plans but it's understood it's about the short-term and the short-term involves winning games. That is my requirement.
"One thing remains clear - I need all players to understand our intended to perform. I come back to my main message: victory comes first, it's attractive and unity. If you follow this order, I believe that I'll stay very long here."

Expectations are Normal

Martin required a police escort to leave the Falkirk Stadium after his last game in charge.

We've seen how hostile situations can turn at football clubs when results decline. Demonstrations have almost become a regular aspect of game day atmosphere on both sides of the city currently.

As Rangers' youngest ever head coach, the inquiry was posed about which attributes the coach thinks he has that would enable him to cope, never mind excel, in one of the highest-pressure positions in UK soccer?

"In my opinion expectations in football is normal," he stated. "One needs to understand that very quickly.
"I think some people could reference my youth but I'm a decade and a half in this career. I had an excellent chance to be at Bayern Munich and serve as only an assistant manager, but I felt what it means to manage a team and the pressure you face.
"You begin winning games and then some critics claim you need to play attractive soccer. That becomes the stage but that's exactly my intention. I enjoy that challenge and I'm excited for what's ahead."

The Sporting Director Explains Chermiti Signing & Hiring His Son

Kevin Thelwell media conference

The media pack had numerous questions from journalists directed at Thelwell.

Much discussion has focused on the appointment of Robbie Thelwell as head of recruitment, with fans unconvinced about his qualifications for the position.

However, he justified and explained the choice to bring his son to Ibrox.

"It's always uncomfortable to listen and in appearance I think everyone understood when we took this step to appoint him that he'd be viewed negatively," Thelwell stated.
"The truth of the situation is that we aim to attract the very best talent to this club.
"My view on his professional path and situation is he didn't need family help in football.
"He served at Villa as a senior scout, after which he joined Norwich as scouting chief and then got promoted to player pathways manager.
"Before we hiring him, multiple top division teams wanted to acquire him. Our approach from the beginning of the process was discuss with the CEO, Andrew and deputy chairman Paraag Marathe about this situation.
"I remained highly open and I think he likely experienced a stricter process than anybody else who's employed by this football club.
"What I do know is that he will work 25/8 to be successful for Rangers and I anticipate seeing him demonstrating that he'll become an excellent staff member for the club."

Thelwell also defended the acquisition of forward Chermiti, who joined the club for an alleged initial fee of £8m, after failing to score in 24 appearances for Everton.

It was Thelwell who transferred the Portugal youth international to Liverpool from Sporting Lisbon - again for large funds in a fifteen million pound transfer.

He was asked if he stands by his multi-million pound signing, who hasn't yet register in seven matches for Rangers.

"Yes, very much so," Thelwell responded. "I believe Youssef Chermiti is a player who's possesses great ability.
"I've never doubted him in any way. Similarly, I think Danny will help to get the best out of the player.
"It's very early days for the young player, he's a promising prospect and naturally with young talents they sometimes require patience.
"However, I'm convinced over the course of his career here he'll demonstrate that he's a highly capable footballer."

Stewart Acknowledges Fan Disappointment and Hurt

The chief executive was in the media firing line, given the vitriol that has been directed at him by certain of the club's fans.

Additionally, there was a banner in the Sandy Jardine stand during the recent draw with Dundee United suggesting him - and the sporting director - to depart before they were packed for him.

Similar to the football director, Stewart didn't avoid the topic.

"I completely appreciate the frustration and anger that the supporters are experiencing because results this season haven't been good enough and no one is happy with those," he stated.
"The hurt and disappointment they feel is matched inside the boardroom.
"Also understand that there has to be an outlet for those frustrations and as chief executive, that's me.
"I'm a lightning rod for such issues and my responsibility as a
